We became big fans of the previous generation Renault Megane with its edgy and individual styling after testing the car in France last year. The design of the all-new Megane has been dulled down slightly, especially it's formerly pronounced posterior. The new car may not be quite as unique as the outgoing model but it's still pretty striking. And the good news is that it's coming to India.
Renault will first import their high end saloon, the Laguna, as a CBU in 2009, and thereafter assemble the Megane from its Chennai plant once it's ready in 2010. The Megane will be expensive, however, when it hits the Indian market. It's not clear at the moment if we'll get the hatch or sedan. If the previous generation is anything to go by, the hatch will probably look a lot better. The sedan will, in all likelihood, have a more mundane rear end but gain acceptance faster in India.

The Megane features high quality and nicely laid out interiors. It'll likely sport the same 1.5 liter dCi engine as the Logan, but with a turbocharger pushing power above 100bhp. Renault will have an array of other engines to choose from, ranging from a 1.6 and 2.0 liter petrol engines and a 1.9 liter dCi.
The Megane provides a bit of French chic that could really liven up our roads, but it won't come cheap when it hits Indian showrooms in 2010.
