NOT MUCH HAS CHANGED SINCE THE last time I reported back on the Dazzler. Actually, things have taken a turn for the worse with a home remedy I tried, to fix the carburetor. Now, I"m no compulsive fiddler of machinery but this time around I had to take matters into my own hands because every time I rang the Honda service station and asked if they" d got the part that needed fixing, they"d reply with a calm, "Let me check and get back to you"; followed by "No, not yet.·· And that wasn't particularly helping matters with the Dazzler spitting and spewing every morning and as time went on, during the day too.

The minor starting problem was growing into a large annoying one with the Dazzler refusing to idle even after a fair amount of warming up. And I was filling fuel far more regularly now. The fantastically efficient Dazzler, which can easily cross 40kpl even with some hard riding, was now returning a meagre 32kpl despite being gentle with it and nursing it through every ride.

Having tried my hand at tweaking the odd carburetor on an Enfield, I assumed I would rock at fixing the one on the Dazzler. Except I didn't. At all. I sort of managed to get it off the bike and blow it out to try and clear any blockages, but that was about it. And yes, as much as I had dreamt of the problem vanishing after that trick the night before, it didn·t. It Just sort of got worse.

So I called the chaps at the Honda service station again, this time with a little more desperation in my voice. Unfortunately, the response from their end did not suggest any added urgency. The result is that I am leaning more toward grabbing the keys of the Polo now despite the long hours in traffic while the Dazzler sits these few weeks out. I am still hoping the part will arrive sooner rather than later and the Dazzler will be ready for some action in this great riding season, with the morning cooling down and the rain well and truly gone.
