Nicky Hayden, the 2006 MotoGP World Champion, shihs to the Ducati factory team of Honda season. Hayden was quite dejected in the paddock at the end of a tough opening day of testing at Jerez that leh him down in 10th and a massive 2.5sec off the pace. The former factory Honda rider managed to slash his lap time by 1.5sec on the second day as he clocked a best of 1.40-486 becoming the quickest Ducati rider. It also eased fears that Hayden might also struggle to adapt to the Ducati, which has previously leh the likes of Loris Capirossi, Alex Barros and Marco Melandri at sea.

Watched by an injured 2007 World Champion and team-mate Casey Stoner, Hayden completed 70 laps and ended just a fraction over a second outside of Valentino Rossi's quickest of 1.39.429. Hayden was also comfortable with Bridgestones provided to him. He stated that he was almost able to get the limits out of the front tyre but still wasn't very comfortable with the rear and needed to work on it. Overall, the Kentuky Kid was quite happy with his progress on the Ducati.
