SINCE ITS LAUNCH, THE YAMAHA YZF-R15 has faced issues related to over heating of the engine due to misuse of the fairing panel gaps in the R15 bodywork. The most common one is the tucking in of a cleaning cloth in the gap on the right hand side of the fairing. In a few cases, these cloth pieces have caught fire resulting in a total loss of the vehicle.

To avoid such accidents and misuse on the owner's part, Yamaha is now offering a free upgrade to a new fairing panel which includes a mesh lining which avoids easy access to the engine. All R15 owners can contact their nearest Yamaha dealer for this component upgrade.
