Morning, I decided to go for a spin around the MMSC racetrack in Chennai. When I entered the pits my heart literally skipped a beat. Clad in a Dainese Valentino Rossi Replica suit, a girl was setting the track on fire aboard a Honda CBR600RR. I was told that she is Alisha, daughter of veteran racer, Abdullah. Passersby could not avoid a second look at the r8-year-old girl who also competes on a Yamaha R6. With 10 years of racing experience under her belt already, it was apparent that she was the most envied person on the track. When I was introduced to her, I noticed that she was eXtremely passionate about the sport.

Alisha started her racing career at the age of eight with go.-karts and later proceeded to cars. The year 2005 saw her making her racing debut on two wheels on a Yamaha Crux in the Group D category. In 2006, Alisha graduated from the novice to the expert class as she was crowned the champion in the IIOCC four-stroke. Deciding to move to a bigger scene, Alisha was gifted the CBR by her father. Riding a small motorcycle around the track isn't easy, however, to ride a 600cc bike and compete with potential rivals takes a lot of courage.

Alisha gives credit to her father as one of the main reasons she got interested in bikes and cars.-Bikes have always been'her first preference though. The female racer has more than enough experience competing on the Chennai and Coimbatore tracks and has managed to be on the podium on a regular basis. In the Indian racing scene, Alisha has participated in almost all the categories with different bikes. Alisha's personal best is 2min ssec on a CBR600 around the MMSC race track.

When asked about her fellow racers, she says that she has tremendous respect for all those who are passionate about the sport. Alisha has also participated in the recently held R15 racing event by Yamaha and managed to be in the top six till the final round. During many racing events, a few of her male competitors have attempted to push her around the track. It was truly appalling when I witnessed a male rider trying to elbow her during the final set of comers. When asked how she handles this, Alisha replied with a smile that aggression is a part of this sport. She further added, "When they spend time in thinking how to push me out, I use it to manipulate my throttle in an efficient way." We are sure Alisha can easily outsmart all her aggressors.
