It took over a month of eager waiting, but we finally received a longterm Hunk from Hero Honda. That certainly was great news, but what was disappointing was that the bike reached us in far from factory-fresh condition, having completed 2,400km before being handed over. All our plans ofleisurely running-in the bike over the next month or so ran aground right away.

Getting the bike back in good condition and having it working to our satisfaction did take a frustrating trip and some TLC back at the service centre. It's been smooth sailing since though.

Our Hunk has lived up to its name, with many pretty faces on Pune streets caught ogling at the bike. This bike in a flamboyant shade of red is quite the attention grabber with its muscular looks making it stand out at traffic signals and parking lots.

The instnunent binnacle looks smart with its red speedometer looking particularly racy at night. While we had to change the switchgear set on account of failure rather early on in the bike's life, we do find that attention to detail is superb and the bike's bodywork flows wonderfully, giving it a macho and powerful look.

Performance from the Hunk's refined 149.2cc motor that produces 14Abhp at 8500rpm is adequate for its class. The engine's strong mid¬range allows good use of traffic gaps ensuring that you are able to make it to the first scene of any movie you might be running late for.

The exhaust note sounds rather restrained at lower speeds, but give the bike an empty stretch of road with the engine revving harder and it produces an addictive bassy roar. Pune's heavy rush hours are where first and second gears become best friends. The gearshift works well, with the next ratio only a gentle nudge of the foot away. The Hunk's clutch is light and a joy to use in fender-to-fender riding. Despite heavy traffic, the bike still manages 47Akpl in the city.

Its stylish and well-padded seat is also comfortable and twin gas¬charged shock absorbers assist this bike with a smooth ride over Pune's infamous pothole-laden streets. Though I am yet to head up towards Aamby Valley in Lonavala for my personal handling test, the first impression of the Hunk is clearly positive. This bike corners well with a decent ride quality at all times. There haven't been any massive flaws to write home about yet, and living with the Hunk this far has been just as satisfactory an experience as expected.
