In my Dzire I could manage a top speed of 160kmph. But once I reached that speed, the next time onwards the car started vibrating once it crossed 140kmph. It was not the steering wheel that vibrated but the entire body as a whole. The car's pick up and fuel efficiency have decreased considerably and also the engine noise has increased.

The first thing this points to is wheel alignment and balancing but if these are fine then the second thing to do is get the suspension checked up properly. If that also turns out to be fine then check for engine mounts and then the engine itself. Does the vibration start if the engine is revved to a higher rpm in a lower gear? Or is there vibration when the car is stationary? These could point to a problem in the engine rather than in the suspension.

are the vibrations due to the road or the vehicle itself?

It should not happen. Check it with the dealer.
