Hundai's i20 is the best example of the Korean company's maturing. Though the design may seem to have been inspired by Peugeots, specifically the 307 and the 308, the i20's surfacing and detailing is well and truly refined. The interior too uses better 'quality of plastics and space and packaging is decidedly superi to that of the Getz.

Though it has bee launched in Europe with a choice of three petrol engines, expect the i20 to be made available in India with essentially the 1.2 petrol, whose 78bhp and 118Nm should give the i20 a decent bit of urge. The 75bhp 1.4 common rail diesel will fol¬low later. At 3.94 metres long and 1.71 metres wide, the i20 is bigger than the Getz, but manages to stay within the tax-saving four-metre cut-off.
