Our lifers section has been injected with one more potent bike. This time it is the latest from the TVS stable, the Apache RTR Fi.

Now, here's the first thing to know when you pick up a fuel injected two-wheeler. Forget about riding your bike on petrol fumes. This is a serious piece of machinery and it is expected that you treat it with care. For starters, never let the fuel quantity run below 2.5-litres. Because when you do, the fuel pump doesn't create enough fuel pressure resulting in an air-block in the system. And when that happens, no amount of kick/electric/push starts will help. Take your bike to the nearest TVS service station and get it
sorted. It doesn't take a lot of time to sort though.

With the first lesson learnt, the bike is turning out to be a revelation. As mentioned in our TG 2 Wheels review last month, the bike is an ideal compromise between sporty and commuting needs. The bike comes in eye-catching colours an.d decals but what catches most road-goers attention is the exhaust growl. It gives the impression that the engine is much bigger than the 160cc under the tank. Pick up is great although it runs out of breath once it touches three-digit speeds. For the record, top speed is 121 kph. Getting there however requires a serious piece of stretch. I'm looking for it.
