The old Lancer always was the best looking car in its segment and the darling of local aftermarket modifiers. The Cedia, however, with iits bland looks failed to find many takers. Hindustan Motors plan to claw back their lost ground with the new Lancer. It is a smashing; looking vehicle. Sharing its style with the amazing Evo X with the new inverted grille, sporty sill extensions and a tail spoiler, it is bound to be a head turner. That is just what it needs to compete with its main rival, the Civic. The interiors are spacious and comfortable but the quality of plastics isn't quite in the league of the Civic and the Corolla. It will be offered with a choice of two engines: a 152bhp z-litre petrol and a 138bhp 2-litre diesel. The combination of a great chassis and powerful engines promises to make this one a hoot to drive. After all, some of the Evo's DNA must have filtered through.
