Porsche is one of the first sports car companies to have set shop. Ironically they are selling more SUVs than the 911s. Porsche have every reason to believe that the Panamera too will be a good option for India especially considering the decent sales Mercedes-Benz CLS-class. The Panamera's forte lies in being a comfortable yet powerful four-door, four-seater GT. Like the Cayenne, the Panamera has a hatchback tail gate which reRects its Porsche lineage. Like thoroughbred 9IIS, the Panamera has an extremely slippery surface, aiding quick acceleration. The interiors are designed to impart an executive feel in order to match up to other premium GTs. Porsche have chucked any interactive system like the iDrive and instead haveprovided buttons for every function - making the interiors looks like a spaceship cockpit.

The interior is roomy and for the family folks, dropping the rear seats offers a huge amount of boot space as well. Engine options range from a 3.6-litre V6 to a full blown turbocharged variant. Though Porsche are mulling over a diesel mill from the Cayenne as well, don't expect the oil burner to come to India any time soon. While the Panamera awaits a global launch, we speculate a late debut for the car's Indian version. Pricing may well stray into the S-class/7 Series bracket, but the Porsche will surely have the grunt and the badge to justify the tag.
