The GT-R is a car that defies all set rules associated with a performance car. The abilities of the GTR for the price that it commands are extraordinary to say the least. The statistics of course are there, a 3.8-litre twin turbo V6 with 470bhp, a 0-100km/h time of just 3.5sec, a top speed of 310km/h (as claimed by Nissan) and a six-speed twin clutch gearbox with a four-wheel drive. These figures, however, don't even say half the story. The dynamics are known to be good enough to outpace a gII round the Nurburgring and the carbonceramic brakes are said to be powerful enough to pull your eyes right out of their sockets.

Then there is that huge display at the centre of the dashboard which provides information about everything from longitudinal and lateral G-forces to turbo boost pressure. It gets three toggle switches on the centre console to tweak the gear change speed, ESP and damper settings. It actually 'knows' hundreds of famous racetracks around the world and can tweak its suspension settings for an optimum setup for the track. The UK, it is probably the most affordable supercar in the world. Ferrari, Porsche, Aston - who needs them anymore?
