The City has been around for a long time and despite challenges from newcomers, it is the highest seller in this segment. Although it's had a facelift it's hard to call it good looking, but that has not affected its popularity as the cabin offers lots of senger comfort and fine fit and finish It's powered by 1.5 engines including a VTEC, and both, especially the latter, are smooth, willing and fuel-efficient. Gear selection is easy and the ride quality is amongst the best in this segment.

But this is at the cost of handling and high-speed stability. The electronic power steering is highly over-assisted and does not offer adequate feedback at high speeds and the braking is also not quite up there with modulation being a little difficult. And it costs more than its rivals. But then it wears the Honda badge and as its makers have learnt, Indians have a lot of faith and respect for this brand and are willing to pay a premium.
