The previous head of BMW's Californian studio and subsequent chief designer for Aston Martin, Henrik Fisker set up his own design consultancy and carmaking business in 2005. His first works were based on the BMW 6 Series and the car was called Latigo and that was followed by the Mercedes-Benz SL-based Tramonto. In 2008, Fisker made a big impression at the Detroit motor show with the unveiling of a grand touring limousine powered by a hybrid engine. The plug-in electric-hybrid car accelerates up to 80kph before the petrol engine kicks in.
