What a difference a day and a service has made. The Flame's rich cherry red and black aura has been restored to an eye¬catching sheen. But far more crucially, the TVS Century service staff have lavished the 125cc city commuter with comprehensive care. Lo, the ragged, out-of-breath pantings of the engine are now a figment of the past. What I hear now instead is an even-keyed purr at the press of the electric start that rises to a resonant whir on moving off. At 70kmph in high revs and top gear, the TLC-administered Flame is a far cry from the wheezing, rackety affair of yore. Every squeak, screech, ruffle and rattle has been sorted and settled transforming the Flame's going into a smooth glide. The gear lever's notchy edges are smoothened out to a significant degree.
The bike seems to have rediscovered some yen for the fast lane and eclipses the 60kmph mart with fair aplomb. Close to that and above it gets a bit laden with vibrations and the exhaust note takes on a strident tone. The front disc brake tends to fade somewhat in scorching mid-day hour travel, which I'm not sure has a solution other than avoiding the sun. That said, the Flame is a wholly competent and reliable urban tool.
