has built an all new fuel efficient and environment friendly 1.6-litre diesel engine for compact cars. The U2 is a 1,582cc inline four-cylinder engine employing the second generation common-rail diesel injection system. Expected to deliver a fuel efficiency of around 21kmpl, the U2 will make its debut on the European version of Hyundai's upcoming hatch, the i20, due for launch later this year. Since small cars with a diesel engine capacity of over 1.5 litres attract a higher duty, it is likely that the i20 range in India will not include this engine.
