Mahindra & Mahindra foray into the two-wheeler landscape has been a measured one. Aware of the challenges ahead, Mahindra 2 Wheelers has worked on improving product quality - the incessant Kinetic gremlin - and also on revamping its dealer network. In line with this step-by-step approach, the company recently rolled out the Flyte-based Rodeo scooter.

The Rodeo retains much of the Flyte's attractive lines, with a new front mudguard being a key differentia tor. Close inspection also reveals a redesigned front nacelle emblazoned with Mahindra's corporate logo.

The Rodeo attempts to thrill the scooter market with its funky digital display that includes a speedometer, tachometer, tripmeter, acceleration indicator, odometer, fuel gauge and clock. Riders can toggle through seven colours as the console backlight. A charging point beside the ignition key is a welcome addition. A side-stand down indicator and buzzer are other new features. Unlike the Flyte, the Rodeo sports a single-tone paint scheme with stylish graphics on the front mudguard, apron and side panels. Other changes include a marginally longer seat and restyled grab-rail. Powering the gearless Rodeo is the same 124.6cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled engine that does duty on the Flyte. This self-start-equipped motor produces peak power of 8bhp at 7000rpm while churning out a max torque ofO.9kgm at 5500rpm,

The Rodeo employs a steel tubular frame and does well to use telescopic forks up front with a single rear shock absorber linked to the engine at the rear.
