Driving a Honda Accord Euro R for the N .Technology team, Englishman, James Thompson won it the maiden victory of the WTCC season, also marking it Accord's first victory on a global stage at the second race at Imola. Recovering from a poor start in the first race to finish third, Thompson did better in the second race from sixth on the grid and was third by the end of the first lap. Snatching lead from BMW's Jorg Muller on lap seven he didn't look back and crossed the line 1.1 seconds clear of the German. It was his fourth WTCC triumph, while Honda's win made them only the fifth manufacturer to win a race at this level.
