Is tyre pressure sensitive to temperature? If yes, what is the ideal time to check the exact pressure? Is it after the vehicle is parked for a long time or after the vehicle has been driven continuously? How often should tyre pressure be checked?

Temperature has a huge impact on tyre pressure. As temperature increases the air inside the tyre expands and this results in a huge increase in pressure. The difference between pressures when the tyre is hot and cold can be over 10psi at times.

The manufacturer recommended tyre pressure is always for cold tyres. Hence you should always check the pressure before you drive off, preferably first thing in the morning. It is good to check tyre pressures at least once a week with an accurate air pressure gauge.

Correct tyre pressure can help to extend the life of your tyre, improve vehicle safety and maintain fuel efficiency. The main reason for maintaining tyre pressure is safety. Tyres that are under inflated can overheat; and over inflated tyres can lead to poor vehicle handling on the road. Correct tyre pressures also help to maintain optimum fuel efficiency.
