Wirh Japanese leaders Honda and Yamaha unveiling their lineup, Suzuki hasn't stayed behind either. The Japanese auto maker's latest models were uncovered at the Paris Motor Show in early.

While the middleweights, the Gixxer 600 and 750 remain technically unchanged, it's their flagship-liter class model that has been beefed up. As expected, the engine is now lighter and squarer with a 74.5mm x 57.3mm bore and stroke. Larger titanium valves, higher compression ratio and new 12-hole injectors are said to make the latest GSXR1000 faster than the outgoing KB model. The exhaust system takes its design clues from the MotoGP bike and is tuned to provide optimum performance through the twin pipes mounted on either side of the bike. Cosmetically, the bike gets a new headlight design and slight updates to the bodywork.

To make the bike's handling more agile, the blokes at Suzuki have completely redesigned the chassis and mated it to new suspension elements from Showa. Braking is done through the state-of-the-art monoblock calipers and 310mm fully floating rotors. The wheelbase too is reduced by lOmm to aid handling. The bike is (expected to go on sale by December 'DB.

A new addition to the range is Suzuki's naked street fighter, the Gladius 6so. As the name suggests, the bike uses Suzuki's trusty 650CC V-twin engine that does duty in the SV650. The bike features Italian styling cues with its steel tube trellis frame - a move to attract clients away from the European nakeds. With the 70PS motor powering a 202kg machine, we don't expect the Gladius to be a performance machine. The bike will, however, prove to be a worthy contender in the entry-level segment that all manufacturers are now targeting.
