The D-type motorcycle was the first complete production model that Soichiro Honda and his team made. The model was christened the Dream because it made Honda dream about becoming a successful' motorcycle manufacturer. This motorcycle was the first step that led to other successful street bikes from the Honda stable like the CB ser'tes and the Dream series itself. The bike's distinctive character was its channel frame made from pressed steel. Motorcycles in that era were usually sold in black paint, but the Dream. debuted with a stylish maroon colour - one of the important reasons why it won so many hearts right from the outset.
