Traction is the adhesive friction force between two moving bodies in contact. In automotive diction, the tyre grip on a road surface is referred to as traction. Tyre manufacturers give a variety of shapes and grips to their products to arm them suitably for different types of applications and roads. Advanced vehicles come with a traction control mechanism that senses loss of traction on the go and counters it with slowing down wheelspin.
