GL1000 A street bike

The GL1000 wasn't received very well initially as it did not fit into any particular category. Though Honda marketed it as a tourer, its street bike dynamics didn't do justice to its purpose. As time passed, the aftermarket provided a lot of accessories like wind screens and panniers that urged people to make long distance use of the bike. The reliable flat-four engine further complemented its long distance capabilities. Since then, the GL1000 laid the foundation for one of the most respected series of tourers from Honda the Goldwing.
