There is no doubt that the new Swift is the car India's been waiting for over the last one year. Ever since it was put on sale in some parts of Europe last year, dealerships here have been flooded with queries on its local introduction. Despite knowing that the new Swift was around the corner, sales of the Swift brand (Swift and Dzire) was improving and waiting period still stretched into months.
With the new Swift, Maruti will offer a car that is more fuel economical, more spacious, easier to drive and more practical for daily use. The increased-value Swift sits on a redesigned platform and is said to have better handling and ride. The engines however remain the same, the 1.2 K Series petrol and 1.3 Fiat-sourced diesel will tug the new Swift with a newly mapped ECU. The interiors have been comprehens' overhauled to lend it a C-segm product touch and feel. Even th the successor is expected to cost marginally more, Maruti need not try very hard to sell this car but . equally good cars available off the shelf, Maruti must be feeling the h at the production line to produce enough vehicles to keep competi' from pecking its customers away.
